Why Sponsor Us:
The Couture Pattern Museum is dedicated to the preservation and digitization of rare haute couture sewing patterns, including historically significant pieces such as the coronation robe pattern blessed by Queen Elizabeth II for the 1953 Coronation. These patterns, key to understanding the lost story of the democratization of haute couture, were once integral to millions of women's lives but are at risk of being lost forever as they have been discarded over generations. With many couture houses not maintaining archives of their designs, the museum safeguards these irreplaceable cultural artifacts, ensuring their survival and accessibility, thus preserving an important aspect of both American and French heritage. This initiative saves invaluable cultural artifacts from deterioration and also addresses the lost narrative of haute couture's history of democratization through the commercial sewing pattern. With many original couture houses no longer in existence, the museum holds crucial records, ensuring these designs' legacy endures for educational and historical research.
