Madame Gres: The Art of Draping @ SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion & Film, Atlanta (until June 30, 2023)
If you happen to be in Atlanta before June 30, 2023, I highly recommend you visits SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion and Film to see Madame Gres: The Art of Draping.
The exhibition has nearly 80 garments from the personal collection of Azzedine Alaia, spanning from 1930s to 1970s. It is a dazzling display of her mastery of technique.
If you can't visit the exhibition in person, here is a link to the exhibition guide: https://guide.scadfash.org/madame-gres#/collection
Madame Gres also released home sewing patterns under the Vogue Paris Original line. Do you own any of these patterns?

Kai, thank you for sharing the incredible work of Madame Gres, and for sharing the link, which is very helpful since many of us cannot attend the exhibition in person. I’m in awe over her imaginative skill, each dress is a work of art! There was a McCall’s “Alix” pattern published, and we do have some Alix knitting patterns here as well. She prolifically published patterns through Vogue, which is interesting since she abhorred RTW but trusted her designs with home seamstresses. Thank you for sharing the gallery of photos from the exhibition, what a treat and a feast for the eyes!
