Dry Ironing Patterns?
Many patterns available today are sold digitally until the sewist is ready to download and print on A4 or A0 paper. Ironing is rarely, if ever required in these situations. Authentic vintage patterns were cut on thin tissue paper, then folded and condensed down into an envelope. When the seamstress unfolded the pattern, there were many creases, which distorted the pattern and therefore, the design. This is why haute couture designers recommended dry-ironing your pattern flat, (without steam). If your seams and markings haven't been lining up, don't forget to dry-iron your tissue patterns before using them.
