About the event

In this special Couture Pattern Museum Zoom lecture, join Victoria Cook, advanced patternmaking instructor at ASU FIDM, as she explores one of the most foundational yet least understood aspects of fashion design: the block.

Beginning with the question, “Where do patterns come from?”, Victoria will guide you through how garments evolve from foundational blocks using the principles of flat patternmaking. She will also discuss the role of the patternmaker.

Victoria Cook is a professional patternmaker and educator at ASU FIDM based in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to teaching advanced flat pattern making, she has taught digital patternmaking, construction, and online fundamentals of fashion design.

This Zoom lecture offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from a working industry patternmaker and educator.
