Original Dior Patterns

I love the idea of seeing the actual line-by-line craftsmanship of the couture designers in the beautiful paper patterns, and I own several Vogue Paris Originals. My favorite designer, by far, is Christian Dior. I see in the database that the Museum has documented several Dior patterns, but they are all issued after his passing in 1957. Does anyone know how many patterns Dior released during his lifetime, and how many of them are available for study and review? If anyone has thoughts to share about the House of Dior, I would love it!

Hello Marcel, I can see why you love Dior so much. I have only seen two patterns issued during his lifetime: one was an adaptation, and the other was offered through a British magazine and publisher. The world of couture sewing patterns is quite fragmented, so it is difficult to stitch together the entire history of them with all the different sewing pattern companies. Thanks for posting your question!
