Hem Tape for Boning Channels?
Hello everyone! A member asked if they can use hem tape for boning channels inside their bodice or for corselettes. This is a new question that I've never considered before. While technically, it is possible, I don't advise using hem tape as one's first option. The boning could pop through the lace, making it insecure. But, if it's all you have available, then why not? I would be sure to zig-zag or secure the boning with tacks before applying the hem tape. I'd recommend using boning channels, boning tape, soft twill tape, or self fabric, instead. If it's merely for a decorative feature, why not make some cotton or silk boning channels, and then cover it up with this tape?
What a creative question though! Happy sewing!
