Pleating is one of couture’s most quietly powerful techniques, utilizing the art principles of form, texture, structure, and movement. Join us for a rare behind-the-scenes conversation with Tony Gomez, President of Twins Pleating, one of the last remaining American ateliers practicing traditional pleating with handcrafted cardboard molds and steam.


Founded in 1995, Twins Pleating has worked on garments worn by Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Gwen Stefani, and Kylie Jenner, with their work used by the entertainment industry like Black Panther, The Joker, and Dancing with the Stars. They remain committed to preserving the heritage techniques of cardboard pleating, a slow, entirely manual process that requires precision, custom molds, and steam.
