About the event
Many members of the Couture Pattern Museum community aspire to travel to France, study haute couture techniques, visit museums and archives, or work alongside French fashion professionals. Learning the language and understanding its culture provides a deeper connection to that experience.
The Couture Pattern Museum is pleased to welcome Alliance Française de Los Angeles for a special Zoom presentation featuring two speakers from Alliance Française de Los Angeles:
Jasmine Rafati Fowler, Director, will introduce Alliance Française, its international mission, educational programs, and the many ways students can become part of the French language community from anywhere in the United States.
Marie Velde, School Coordinator and French instructor, was born in France and studied Philosophy at the Sorbonne before continuing her Fine Arts education in California. Marie will present an introduction to the origins of fashion in France, examining the cultural foundations that eventually gave rise to haute couture.
